George Ray McCormick Sr.
At 48, George realized his lifelong dream of being an artist. He acknowledges both the secular and the religious as an important influence in his subject matter. Examples of the secular work include carved basswood reliefs he refers to as 'flat people'. He also creates in other mediums including ironworks and woodcut prints. George is currently showing at Wlker's Point Center for the Arts and will be exhibiting at the Kentucky Festival of the Arts in Northport, Alabama this October. For more information, contact George at 264-2814.

Piece of artwork you own:
Prophet Blackman. He's a spiritual folk artist, writes outside the board. I like the message that his work says - 'Just try to be right.'

Piece of artwork you'd like to own:
Warrington Colescott. I like prints but he does it all. He was instrumental in me starting to print off my work.

What would you like to see RAA doing in the future?
Having more local artists shows, especially outside of Wisconsin, to help members expand their horizons, so to speak.
