So who's willing to take the Seed Sounds plunge this month? Our guests for #54 will be two versatile musicians, comfortable in waters over their heads and happy to splash around where it's ankle-deep, too. August refreshments with John Paul Simons on double bass and Olivia Dobbs on flute.

Ben Rosenblum Trio - Milwaukee Debut!

Award-winning New York City jazz pianist and accordionist Ben Rosenblum is making his Milwaukee debut as part of a eight stop Midwest tour spanning from Detroit to Madison. This evening will feature Rosenblum's regular touring trio, with rising stars Marty Jaffe on bass and Ben Zweig on drums. Ben Rosenblum has been called “mature beyond his years,” (Sea of Tranquility), an “impressive talent” (All About Jazz) who “caresses [the music] with the reverence it merits” (Downbeat Magazine).

Tontine Ensemble & Matt Blair

Tontine Ensemble was founded in the spring of 2014 with the mission to perform improvisational and contemporary chamber works, as well as champion new music from composers in their community. Its four current members first played together for a Blank Radio (Milwaukee, WI) recording session and immediately began rehearsing regularly.

Matt Blair is a pianist and composer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He will be performing new solo work for Fender Rhodes, electronics, and found objects.
